“Wow! What a day! All I can say is that we have an amazing group of kids here at LMS. They worked so hard. Their competitive spirit and enjoyment of learning, even if it was a challenging day, is truly admirable in my eyes. And to top it all off, the way they carried themselves as members of LMS shone brightly. I am a proud, proud teacher today! These are the days that I will remember as highlights of my career as a teacher.” Says Ms. Troup.
She also reports that, “ALL of our teams did amazingly well. The questions were tough… really tough! We know what to expect next year! The design challenge was to create a gondola using a minimum of 4 mystery products (band aids (and band-aid box), a construction mask, tape, stick notes.. to name a few) that would travel down a cable a distance of 3ft. It had to be self-propelled by a balloon (yay to us who practiced self propelled cars a few weeks before hand!!) and carry a load in the gondola as it travelled. AND… all of this had to be built, tested and then trialled in 30 minutes! Phew…NOT an easy task I must say! Probably one of the more difficult “hands on” challenges I have seen at these competitions.”
The LMS teams were really prepared and had some amazing ideas for their gondolas.
In the end, a huge congratulations goes out to: Noah, Ryan, Zachary and Smaranda who took home first place!! They had the best combined score for the knowledge and design portions of the competition today!
“My hats off to you kids! You all made me so proud today!” Ms. Troup
Great job LMS Students!
