I am so happy that my dream of our school having its own Little Free Library finally came true and that LMS can now not only enjoy the experience of sharing interesting books and encourage the love of reading, but also strengthen community ties in this increasingly digital word!
For those who are not familiar with the concept of a Little Free Library here is the definition: “It’s a “take a book, return a book” gathering place where neighbours share their favorite literature and stories. In its most basic form, a Little Free Library is a box full of books, where anyone may stop and pick up a book (or two) and bring another book to share.”
I am encouraging all LMS staff and school families to share their books and to feel free to reach for one from our library. We are planning to share adult and children’s books to address the need of the whole community. We also encourage French books for all age groups.
This Friday, Dec.19 at 9:30am we are planning the official opening – Ribbon ceremony to kick off our Library in style. We are inviting students, staff, parents, neighbours and whoever can attend the event to spread the word. We would love to see everybody bring a book from home to start our library. Miss Milena will be taking pictures of the opening. She will also send an article with photos to Shoreline and Tribune to inform the community of our initiative.
Thank you and we look forward to seeing you on Friday morning.
