I would like to keep you informed on a wonderful program that LMS will embrace for the new school year. On Tuesday July 15, 2014 from 6-7 p.m. LMS will be holding an information night, featuring a live Skype Q&A session with an Arrowsmith representatives from Toronto. Please save this date and share this information with friends, family, colleagues, and simply forward this email to all on your contact list.
Our expectation at LMS is to provide individualized learning to our students, within small teacher to student ratios, and the Arrowsmith program will help us reach out and unlock the hidden potential for students of all learning styles. Along with the Montessori curriculum, the I.B. middle years program (MYP) in our senior levels, the Montessori Mozarts Arts program, and our very successful Athletics program, LMS will now offer the Arrowsmith program to current and new students at our school.
Research tells us that we all learn differently and the traditional system has been geared towards a certain expectation of uniformity, so if you learn outside the box, you’re outside of that framework. Over the course of a regular school day, LMS Arrowsmith students will stream at appropriate times into and out of their regular classrooms. They will participate in core subjects like math and language as mainstream pupils. This sort of movement between learning stations is characteristic of all Montessori educations. As a result, the process is inconspicuous and does not have the effect of isolating students.
Although LMS will be the first Arrowsmith school in Southwestern Ontario, the program has been available through the Toronto Catholic District School Board since 1997. The program has been thoroughly researched and vetted by some of the most prominent educational authorities in Ontario. Looking forward to seeing you at Lakeview Montessori School, 13797 Riverside Drive East in Tecumseh on July 15, 2014 at 6.00 p.m.
